Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), today joined state and local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for Holbrook’s new Kindergarten through 12th grade school. The MSBA is contributing a maximum total facilities grant of $55,751,400 towards the project.
“We found the most economical and educationally-appropriate solution to the problems at Holbrook Junior/Senior High School,” Executive Director McCarthy said. “I am delighted to help break ground on this important project for the Town of Holbrook!”
The project will construct a new 217,353 square-foot school serving 1,095 students. The current school was built in 1956 and suffers from deficiencies in major building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and roof.
The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally appropriate, flexible, sustainable and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its 2004 inception, the Authority has made over 1,600 site visits to more than 250 school districts as part of its due diligence process and has made over $11.3 billion in reimbursements for school construction projects.
